Large Trout Story - A Letter to the Editor

http://www.independent.ie/national-news/anglers-weight-not-in-vain-2168590.html

Dear Sirs

I refer to the above story which I read with interest.

A very nice fish - but ...

A 90cm (35.4 inches) fish in perfect condition (CF 33) weighs 14.73 lb

The photograph makes it looks like a 14ish lb fish, but not an 11.4kg fish

I wonder did he exaggerate the weight or read the scale wrong (maybe it was 11.4lb???)

Interesting as well that this was a fish that was released so no further verification could be made

Have the scales been independently verified?

One other odd thing in your story

It's the biggest fish caught in Ireland in more than 100 years, but is still short of the record set in 1984?

How does that work?

Ah - fishermans tales!

Regards

Nick
